A silver lining; trans swimmer "wins" NCAA contest and sparks the public outrage

I take a great pride in being friends with people who disagree with me; it makes life more interesting.

That said, my social media accounts are full of people who will post "orange-man-bad" rhetoric, publicly admit that they voted for Biden, hush others for using "Chinese virus" expression, admire Greta Thunberg...well, you get the point.

However, funny thing happened today.

A friend of mine, proud Democrat, let's call her Jane, wrote this on her profile - quote:

"There is a drastic difference between sex and identity. Males are physically superior to females and they will beat them in most any sport. If you can not bear a child (no uterus and ovaries), you should not be able to compete in female sports. Plain and simple."

Jane, a former NCAA athlete, was reacting to the recent event (see article below) where trans swimmer Lia Thomas won NCAA division I title. To make Jane's post even more interesting, a lot of our common acquaintances - who share Jane's political interests and various opinions - agreed.

First, I will point out one thing that Jane got wrong in her post.
"Males are physically superior to females and they will beat them in most any sport".

This statement just calls for anecdotal "counter-argument" from activist who would probably dig out every historically example when a woman beat a man.

More accurate statement would be: "Males are physically superior to females ON AVERAGE."

In layman terms, if you have a man from 35th-percentile of male population competing against a woman from 35th-percentile of female population, that man is winning. Place your bets.

Whether a woman can beat a man will depend on the overlap between male and female populations in the particular event; so physically, there is chance that a woman from 95th-percentile of female population can beat a man from 5th percentile of male population. However, there is a good chance a man from 50th percentile of male population can compete and beat a very best of women in the most of the sports.

And this is what my friend Jane understands - at least intuitively - from her own NCAA experience.

Hence, there is a hope to end this lunacy.

Apparently, people are willing to tolerate all kind of bad ideas to the point - and that point is called "close to home".

So, kudos for my friend Jane for speaking out. I will let you know if she gets banned from the platforms and learns few other things, too... 🙃

Climate change 101

I know I haven't been around lately...work...life...However, the 12-years-old clip popped into my feed and I wanted to share it. The reason? This clip provides the great basic understanding into what are the issues with so-called "evidence" related to anthropogenic (human-induced) climate change and the lack of logic when it comes to the interpretation of such evidence. The sad reality is that even after 12 years from this clip, we are still forced to endure nonsensical conclusions that hurricanes hitting Florida are caused by big bad climate change.

A Non-existent Crisis

The mainstream media is doubling down on the alarmism, and it is not hard to guess why. However, to be fair, consider my little observation an educated guess, an opinion, rather than the fact. Time will show whether I am right.

(1) 'Climate change affects everyone': Europe battles wildfires in intense heat by Reuters (https://www.reuters.com/business/environment/spain-portugal-battle-wildfires-heatwaves-scorch-southern-europe-2022-07-17/)

If you spent time in Southern Europe, Mediterranean, during summer season - July and August in particular - you probably know that heat-induced wildfires are nothing new. In fact, they are quite common and remarkably devastating for the affected communities, and I have witnessed several in person. Most of the time, the wildfires occur due to heat igniting grasses, especially in the areas where there are broken glass or broken bottles. The glass serves as an amplifier for the sun rays, especially, in the vicinity of dry grasses, or even dry pine needles, and as ...
